So here are some reasons that I’ve seen people use for disliking Asami, and here’s why they’re wrong.

Asami’s such a wh-

No.  Let’s just start here.  No.  No no no no no no no.  She was single, Mako was single, they had a mutual attraction and started dating.  STOP IT RIGHT THERE.

Asami’s so prissy *insert something about her makeup here*

1) We clearly were shown that she’s not, in fact, prissy in the last episode.  And even if she was, she’s been nothing but nice to everyone in this show, so I don’t see how it would matter.  2) Sorry, I wasn’t aware that the manner in which someone chooses to present themself has any impact on who they were as a character.  3) This argument is rife with misogyny.  Please stop using it.  Someone can choose to wear or do whatever they want, but so long as it has no negative impact on anyone else, they are completely in the right to do it.  I don’t think her being rich, her wearing makeup, or anything else about her is hurting anyone.

What if she’s an equalist?

But… there’s nothing to support that?  She electrocuted her own father, dammit.  What does she need to do to prove to you that she’s not on their side?  Punch Amon in the face?

No.  If you dislike a character because he or she interferes with your ship, you need to step back and stop it.  Maybe you don’t like masami, and that’s fine, but that gives you no right to hate on Asami because she gets in the way of your ~perfect couple~.

I mean, these are just the arguments I could think of off of the top of my head.  There might be a few more - I could write a response to them too, if I remember them.  But until someone comes to me with a genuine reason to dislike Asami, I have no reason to believe one exists.  All of the arguments I’ve seen are rife with misogyny and/or desperation, and I’m tired of it.
